Battery and connectivity
Smart locks run on batteries. Some connect directly by Wi-Fi or Thread; others need a hub or bridge. We explain the trade-offs.
Ecosystem compatibility
- Apple Home
- Google Home
- Amazon Alexa
Smart locks vary widely in which ecosystems they support and which features work in each. A lock that offers remote access in one app may not offer it through every voice assistant. We confirm exactly what works with your ecosystem before you choose.
Compatibility with Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa differs by product and by feature. We confirm what works with your ecosystem during your consultation, before you buy anything.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if the batteries run out?
Locks warn you well before the batteries are flat. Most also keep a physical key or an emergency power option; we will show you how yours works.
Do you keep my access codes?
No. You set your own codes and we never record them. We do not store lock codes, device passwords or account details.
I rent my home. Can I get a smart lock?
Often, yes, but you may need your landlord’s approval. Retrofit locks that keep your existing exterior hardware are a common option for renters.
Will it work with my ecosystem?
That depends on the specific lock. We confirm which features work with Apple Home, Google Home or Amazon Alexa before you buy.
